Mineral, of the ideal form (Ca, Na, K)2-3(Mg, Fe2+, Fe3+, Al)5[OH(AlSi3)O11]2
Hardness: 5-6 Density: 2.9-3.4 Insoluble in acids
Common to virtually all granites and feldspathic rocks, thus is most likely a part of most any clay used as found naturally — complex and variable, as it is a group of the amphiboles. The variation with high Fe2O3 content is called “basaltic”
