Mineral, of the ideal form CaTi[O, SiO4] with a typical empirical analysis of CaO 28.60%, TiO2 40.8%, SiO2 30.6%, with traces of Fe, Al, Y, and Ce
Hardness: 5-5.5 Density: 3.4-3.6 Soluble in acids
Adding titanite to a clay or glaze recipe is often a preferred way of augmenting opacity and strength. Important titanium ore.
