Notes
RBD is a multi-layer blend of stoneware clay materials mined in an IXL quarry about 3 km west of Ravenscrag, Sask. The components range from very plastic buff burning stonewares to a white burning ball clay to a silty medium temperature stoneware. It's plasticity is similar to a normal throwing or handbuilding clay body. It has a slight toothy texture which can be detected on the potter's wheel. Because it is a quarry blend, the proportions of the component materials can vary.
Raw color is dark grey.
It is stable to cone 10 ox and is similar to H550 in speck and color, although more mature and dense in appearance.
