Kiln Bat Wash W5

BAT WASH

Miscellaneous

Notes

Mix with water at a thick consistency for storage to prevent settling. Thin with extra water when used.

It is an advantage to acidify the water to a slight degree - a few drops of hydrochloric acid per gallon is sufficient to produce a noticeable thickening. This addition is a further precaution against separation of refractory and suspending agents and improves working properties.

For best results, apply the wash in a layer sufficiently thin for the shelf color to be discernable. After 4 or 5 passages through the kiln, reapply. Wash can be sprayed or applied by brush, or preferably by roller.

This material contains clay and alumina, consequently the chemical components are kaolinite, mica corundum. The amount of free quartz is typically less than .1%.

Any hazard associated with this material has to do with the dust generated during handling. Dust levels should be kept to a minimum.

Non-toxic if swallowed. Contamination of skin or eyes should be removed by washing with plenty of water.

This material can be disposed of as any non-poisonous waste.
